Terms of use

A review is a two-second video of a dish you ate at the place you name, a rating, and optionally a short caption and the price on the menu. Post only what you filmed yourself, at that place, of food you actually had.

Do not post:

• someone else’s video, or a clip of a screen;
• people who have not agreed to be filmed — film the food, not the room;
• reviews you were paid, fed for free or otherwise rewarded to write, unless you say so;
• reviews of a business you own, work for or compete with;
• anything unlawful, hateful, sexual or meant to harass.

You keep the rights to your video and caption. By posting, you give GottaTry a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, copy, process, show and distribute them as part of the service, and to have the companies that host it for us do the same on our behalf. Processing includes cutting, resizing and re-encoding the clip, and removing the location and device metadata your phone writes into it.

Your ratings and prices also go into totals and averages about dishes, places and prices. We may use those figures for any purpose, including sharing or selling them, on the terms set out in the privacy notice: only figures, never anything that identifies you, and only once enough people have contributed.

The licence to your video and caption ends when you delete them or erase your data, apart from copies in backups until they expire. Figures already released stay released.

Places you add — a name, a location, a dish on its menu — are facts about a business, not about you. You let us keep, correct and share them without limit.

We check reviews against these rules and may withhold or remove one that breaks them, or suspend an account that keeps doing so. When we withhold your review we tell you, say why, and let you appeal from your reviews.

We never take payment to remove or reorder a review, and venues have no rating to buy.

Do not collect the site’s content in bulk, by scraper or otherwise, or try to get around our limits. Linking to a page is always fine.

Reviews are people’s opinions, not ours, and prices, opening hours and whether a place is still there can change without us knowing. Check before you travel. GottaTry is provided as it is, and we are not responsible for a meal, a trip or a decision made on the strength of it, as far as the law allows.

We may change the service, or these terms. If a change affects what we do with what you have already posted, we will say so on the site before it takes effect, and you can erase your data first.

These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia.
